Fitting and Care
Fitting Curtain Poles
Positioning brackets for Stainless Steel Poles
Stainless steel poles have holes drilled to take the brackets, please insert the bracket into the hole when marking bracket positions. If you have a centre bracket, fit that first and then attach the pole to that bracket before marking the position of the end brackets. If you do not have a centre bracket, fix one end bracket and fit the pole to that before marking the position for the other end bracket.
Securing brackets to Wood Poles
Vertical and horizontal brackets for wood poles have a hole drilled to take a screw to secure the pole in the bracket. This stops the pole from turning and helps to correct any warping which may occur.
Securing finials and joining brackets to Wrought Iron Poles
These are secured by tightening the grub screws with the allen key supplied.
Fitting a Bay Window Curtain Pole
For a made to measure bay window pole you will normally have 2 pieces of pole, one for each side of the bay. These join in the centre at the front of the bay.
Long poles may cause damage or injury if they are not handled with care. Ensure your fixings are sound. We cannot accept liability for any injury or damage sustained. If in doubt, please engage a professional fitter. The fittings supplied may not be suitable for all types of wall, if in doubt please seek professional advice. If you have difficulty fitting components into a stainless steel pole, use petroleum jelly to make fitting easier.
Cleaning & Care for Wrought Iron, Stainless Steel & Wood
Wrought iron poles and fittings are protected with a high quality wax to preserve the natural colour of the steel. This wax has a very high melting point. To clean waxed wrought iron use a dry lint free cloth to dust and buff. Do not use detergent, beeswax, beeswax or silicone spray on wrought iron poles & fittings.
Stainless steel can be cleaned with detergents and you can use silicone spray to help the rings to glide.
Wood poles are treated with Danish Oil. You can clean these poles with a any wax polish or wood oil (such as Danish Oil or Tung Oil).
Take care to prevent staining your curtains during cleaning.
Please take care when fitting and cleaning. We recommend that you dust poles frequently to avoid a build up of dirt which may mark your curtains, but make sure you do not get cleaning fluids on your curtains.
